There had been rumours for a few days that Queen Elisabeth was infected. She had met her son Charles only two days before he found out that he had tested positive for Covid for the second time.
The Queen had denied these rumours by returning to work on 16 February, when she received the Defence Secretary at Windsor Castle, without a mask. Today came the official note from Buckingham Palace announcing the Queen’s positive test result.
Queen Elizabeth has only mild symptoms. The BBC specified that the Queen will “respect the guidelines” and continue to devote herself to the “light engagements” already planned for the next few days from Windsor Castle.
She will be constantly monitored by a doctor. The Queen is 95 years old and has been vaccinated with all three doses. She had been in contact with her son Charles, who tested positive and was also vaccinated with a booster dose. His wife Camilla also contracted the virus, but fortunately none of them had any serious symptoms.
