Because of that, the UK PriMe Minister Johnson plans to mass test truck drivers to end the chaos at Dover. Ministers are preparing infrastructures to make thousands of trucks drivers tested before crossing the English channel.

On Monday, Jean-Baptiste Djebarri, French Transport Ministers, announced that there will be a protocol which would be adopted at a European Union-wide level. The main purpose is “to ensure that movement from the UK can resume”. However, the protocol has not yet been announced or confirmed.

This happened after there were 900 lorries parked on the M20 at 6 pm on Monday. However, the Prime Minister’s claimed there were less than a quarter of this number.

Moreover, speaking at a Downing Street press conference on Monday evening, Mr Johnson said talks were taking place to unblock the flow of trade as fast as possible. In particular, he said: “It was an excellent conversation with the French President (Emmanuel Macron). He stressed he was keen, I would say, to sort it out in the next few hours if we can. Our teams will be working on it flat out – if we can get a result then, that would be great, but we will do it as fast as we can.”

Transport Secretary Grant Shapps urged people not to travel to Kent amid the closure of the French border. He also added that most people should be staying at home in Tier 4 and Tier 3 stay very confined.
