Camilla Parker Bowles, future queen
In a statement issued on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of her reign, Queen Elizabeth II clarified the situation regarding the future title of Camilla Parker Bowles once her husband, Prince Charles, is crowned king.
“I sincerely hope that in due course Camilla will be known as Queen Consort as she continues her loyal service,” she wrote.
A change from the Queen’s New Year’s announcement – remember, she had “named” all members of the royal family except Prince Harry and Meghan Markle -!

A title that is the subject of debate
Married since 2005 to the heir to the British throne, Prince Charles, Camilla Parker , who became Duchess of Cornwall through this alliance, was unaware of the title that would be given to her once her husband was crowned king. Some claimed she would be called Princess Consort, while others believed she would be called Queen Consort.
The issue?
The Duchess of Cornwall’s position as second wife to Princess Lady Diana, Prince Charles’ first wife and mother to Prince William and Prince Harry, who died in 1997. Before marrying Prince Charles, Camilla Shand, her maiden name, was married to Horse Guards officer Andrew Parker Bowles. Her remarriage in 2005 to the Crown Prince, son of Queen Elizabeth II, caused much speculation about her future title.
